By feeling all these emotions, it helps you understand how precious human life is....
apperance;; Lei is somewhat of an imposing individual by the way he takes care of his appearance. He has an athletic build meaning that he is muscular, but not overly, you can definitely tell he has a bit of definition to himself. He stands at six feet and one inch. He has jet black hair that is sometimes all over the place or he has it perfectly combed and slicked back (he normally does this for formal events/special occasions). He has amber eyes, a round head, a sharp nose, just about everything about him seems perfect.
However, Lei does have a great amount of scars that run the length of his back that he received from the 100 years war and his encounters as a bounty hunter. Some scars are visible on the back of his neck even when he puts on shirts and sometimes you can see the scars the run along his forearms tracing his veins. He tends to wear a black travelers jacket with the sleeves rolled up. He keeps it no matter what condition it is (however he does repair it from time to time) and he only ever dresses in black or neutral colors (gray). He also has a black cloak that he uses in the winter months.
personality;; Lei is a maverick, first and for most. He conforms to nothing except what he believes in, and he follows his own path. This follows in everything he does. He is impulsive. These two combined makes predicting what he does next very difficult. Despite his tendency to go on his own path, Lei is quite steadfast - He is firm in his beliefs, determination, and adherence to what he believes in. He is very loyal to his ideals, and when he makes an oath he keeps it no matter what the cost to himself.
Lei also typically tries to downplay serious situations, people or events that are due respect lightly and with disrespect. He uses a lot of sarcasm, both to tease the few allies he has and to annoy and distract his enemies. At times, this causes him to dismiss what others have to say with little regard for the other person or the situation, particularly if it does not affect him.
However, his personality is also a reflection of what he does for a living. Bounty Hunting. Lei is ruthless when it comes to either capturing or killing a target and shows very little to no remorse. There isn't anything that could stand in his way from getting his rewards. He can be extremely distant from others, for he does not want harm to come to those who are innocent.
The only thing with Lei is that he can go back and forth between having a tough outer shell and being somewhat soft as to left others in because, well, everyone needs a life.
family;;
Father ~ Nazume Kizi - Age 62 - Imprisoned
Mother ~ Yuma Kizi - Age 58
history;; Ever since Lei was born, all everyone ever talked about was how powerful he was going to be when he grew up. All that talk was something that he could just never escape and so as a child growing up in the Fire Nation Capital, life was easy, but everyone had high expectations for him and as he did for himself. He went to the Fire Nation Military Academy starting at age 5 where he received top ranks for the next seven years until he could actually move to the Advanced Academy to begin training to become an officer in the Army. Lei's father was a General who was deployed and in charge of a few platoons by Yu Dao, a Fire Nation Colony. This lead Lei to want to be just as high ranking as his father, but that was not his main focus, he wanted to be more powerful.
One could say that Lei was a child who should have been raised in a gentle lifestyle, but his father found his mother's wishes inferior to his. Anything to please him and the Fire Lord, as long as the war took a step in the right direction. However, Lei wasn't completely content with this whole military upbringing, in fact, as much as he wanted to be just as good, if not better than his father, this war that the Fire Lord was seeking to win was wrong. As much as a bending prodigy he was, he could also think for himself and in his spare time he would read forbidden texts about the other nations and their ways of life. This led him to adopt various methods of bending to his current form to give himself an edge. However, as time went on, Lei became a bit blinded by what he desired, and that was power. At age 17, he was deployed to Yu Dao against his wishes because over the years Lei and his father had been in disagreement over his future and sometimes they would almost escalate to Agni Kai's, but somehow their encounters would be diffused by others within the Military hierarchy.
With his deployment to Yu Dao, Lei learned that his father had transferred him to a platoon under his control. This angered Lei because this was a class one offense which prohibits family members to serve within the same division, however, his father seemed to have managed to get around this boundary. When he confronted his father about it and demanded a transfer, he was quickly denied. His father deemed that even his seventeen year old son did not have power over him regardless that he was family or not. It was clear to Lei that his father was blinded by his patriotism. However, their next encounter would inspire him to attempt to end his father's life.
On a cold winter day, he witnessed the execution of farmer and his wife for supposedly hiding food that was to be rationed to the villagers of Yu Dao during the winter. He was not phased by their deaths, but found it necessary to investigate these claims and when he did, he discovered that food had not been hidden. In fact, upon reading the journal of the late farmer's wife he discovered that his father attempted to have an affair with this woman and when she refused, he condemned them both. Innocent people sentenced to death. The straw that broke the Moose-Lion's back. Lei plotted to kill his father, his death would be an example of how war crimes would never go unnoticed.
On a blustery winter night, Lei managed to sneak into his father's quarters by knocking his guards unconscious. When he approached his father's bed and pulled off the covers his discovered that he was in fact not there. However, a voice behind him spoke and he realized that his father had been expecting him, however, before he could react, a shocking sensation was sent throughout his body. Streaks of lightning were coming from his father's hand and they entered through Lei's back. He could feel the energy pulsating through him along with intense pain that was unbearable, but somehow, by some miracle, he pointed his fingers outward and channeled the lightning out of his body and from his father's grasp. An explosion was a result of this chain reaction and when the dust had settled, all that was left was Lei's father looking at the spot where his son had once been.
Surprisingly, Lei had indeed survived, but barely. He had managed to channel the lightning out of his body quick enough to prevent his heart from exploding. However, this left him weak and it was only because an old woman by the name of Naomi, a waterbender took him in and healed his body. However, the damaged his been done. Up and down his back there were scars of the lightning and many of his veins had scarring that were visible on his skin. The lightning had burned him to the point where his blood had began to boil and cause his skin to burn. The problem was that these types of burns were incurable and would always remain etched on his body, visible for all to see, and he would always be in pain.
It was a small price to pay, but he escaped his father with his life. The follow months would lead to him to leave the comfort of Naomi's home so that he could begin a new life, however it wasn't as easy as he thought. He made it to Ba Sing Se and had to sell his armor and weapons that he had managed to escape his father with so that he could buy food, and when that money ran out he began working odd jobs all over the Lower Ring. They weren't exactly pleasing and he lived like this until he was 18.
One day, Lei couldn't find work, he had no money, no food, he smelled horrible, and his clothes were worn and torn. He basically had nothing to his name and he couldn't dare go back to his father. However, he had managed to find a copy of the day's newspaper and was reading the 'Enforcement' section which lists crimes, wanted criminals, and sometimes there were listed bounties of criminals wanted dead of alive. Just as he was about to move to another section, something caught his focus out of the corner of his eye. A man looked strangely familiar to a picture that he saw in the paper. He looked like a man by the name of Yi Runae who was wanted to murder and robbery and there was a reward of 2000 gold pieces of his capture, dead of alive. Lei grasped a small dagger he had hidden along the waist of his pants and watched as the man stood by an armor vendor eyeing the various sets. Five minutes passed and he was about to give up when the man who he assumed to be Yi snatched a set of leather chest plates before sprinting right at him.
Lei quickly sprung into action and charged at the man who was caught off guard that he was chasing him, however he quickly dropped the stolen goods and attempted to Earthbend several earth spikes at him, but before he could get anymore attacks off, Lei had managed to propel himself up to the side and he threw his dagger right at the man's throat. The next thing Lei could remember was dragging the man's body to the police before he was taken into a room, asked a few questions and given the reward. He had done it, he had received his first bounty.
From then on, Lei knew that bounty hunting was something he was born to do and for the next ten years that would be all that he would do. Kill or capture people and collect the reward. This was certainly a lifestyle he could certainly live with and one that gained him much recognition as one of the most feared bounty hunters for being a ruthless firebender who sometimes showed up with bodies by the dozens. Let's also not forget to mention that he had managed to learn lightning by the time he was 25. However, you might be wondering. What ever became of his father? Well, he was deemed insane during his trial after the Fire Nation had lost the war and was thrown into a mental facility. Lei found it always to be a shame that he had never rid the world of another evil, but perhaps that punish was far worse than death.
Today, Lei still lives as a bounty hunter and travels the world looking for the 'Scum of the Earth'. The surprising thing is that he was also contacted by several high officials from the four nations about doing their dirty work. As long as he got paid, that was just fine, he didn't care. The funny thing to him however, was that even though he lived a life of luxury, he still felt closer to being scum himself.

sometimes positive, sometimes negative... and sometimes not for many lifetimes.
